Keyboard Shortcuts (July-2025)

Topic: Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts are typically 2 or 3 fingered key presses that generate a command to the
computer to execute a particular function. For example, my favorite is pressing the Alt key and
the F4 key together to produce a pop-up window that allows you to shut down, restart, sign out
or switch user. Windows 10 users may have to right click the Desktop screen and select Refresh
first, to enable the pop-up window to be displayed when you apply the command Alt + F4.
Here are some more that may interest you.
1. Open File Explorer – Windows key + E
2. Open Task Manager – Ctrl + Shift + Esc
3. Insert emojis anywhere – Windows key + . (period) 뇤눎눐눑눒눏
4. Power User Menu – Windows key + X (displays commands on left side of screen)
5. Type with Your Voice – Windows key + H
6. Edit Text – Ctrl + backspace (removes entire word)
7. Reopen a closed browser tab – Ctrl + shift + T
8. Rename files in File Explorer – Select file in File Explorer, press F2, type the new name and
press Enter.
9. Copy a highlighted word or sentence – Ctrl + C
10. Paste a copied word or sentence – Ctrl + V
11. Highlight everything on a page – Ctrl + A (use Ctrl + C to copy it and Ctrl + V to paste it)
Example: Use of #10 and others. Hold down Ctrl key while you press the V key. It’s NOT
necessary to capitalize the letter key. The + sign means to hold down the preceding key
along with the following key.
